Fighting container fires – New recent regulations* (May 2022) state that vessels carrying containers on the weather deck are to be provided with at least two water mist lances. A Water Mist Lance consists of a tube with a piercing nozzle that is capable of penetrating a container wall, producing a water mist inside the container when connected to the fire main. The Lance is a perfect way to fight container fires safely.

The T-ISS Water Mist Lance (including a Penetration Hammer) was designed to meet the requirements in SOLAS regulations II-2/10.7.3 for extinguishing fires inside confined spaces, such as fires in containers on vessels.

*New regulations can be found in the ABS guide for ‘Fire-Fighting Systems for Cargo Areas of Container Carriers.

Fighting container fires with the Water Mist Lance

The Lance consists of a tube with a nozzle, capable of penetrating a container wall and producing a water mist inside the container when connected to the fire main. The lance also comes with an extension tube. This equipment can easily be carried, mounted, and operated by 1 person. It has been demonstrated to offer fast firefighting response time, watch the successful test video here.

Apart from fighting container fires, our Lance can also be used to flood EV car batteries to cool them down in case of an EV car fire. The lance can be inserted at an easily accessible point of the battery, the fire is then fought from the inside out.
