The PX01 Release Hooks
The T-ISS PX01 Release Hook range consists of two dedicated models: the PX01R for liferafts and the PX01B for rescue boats and lifeboats.
Previously, the PX01 was approved for both liferaft and rescue boat applications. As of January 2026, the PX01 (now designated as the PX01R) is approved for use on liferafts only. The PX01R has a safe working load of 35 kN.
For rescue boat and lifeboat applications, T-ISS now offers the PX01B Rescue Boat Release Hook. The PX01B is a manual release hook with a safe working load of 30 kN, specifically designed for use on rescue boats and lifeboats.
How does the Life raft hook work?
The PX01 features two modes of operation, ensuring safe release of the life raft or rescue boat in various conditions:
1. Automatic release – When the craft reaches the water, the hook automatically releases the connection. This function ensures a quick and hands-free detachment during emergency evacuations.
2. Manual release – If automatic release is not feasible—such as when the boat is under load while being towed or in rough sea conditions—the crew can manually activate the release once the craft is waterborne.
This dual-mode functionality provides flexibility and safety during launches in both calm and challenging conditions. Moreover, having a single, easy-to-identify hook reduces confusion in emergency situations and speeds up evacuation, making the PX01 Release Hook a practical and reliable solution for modern marine safety systems.
The PX01 life raft hooks are offload, meaning they can only be released when the boat is waterborne and no load is applied, ensuring maximum safety and reliability during launch.
Approvals and Standards
The PX01B and PX01R Release Hooks meet important international safety standards:
- approved by the Korean Register and
- complies with the EC Directive 96/98EC on Marine Equipment (MED).
- design follows the LSA Code for Hooks for Liferaft Launching, as updated by MSC.81(70).
