What is a Life Boat Release Hook?

A lifeboat release hook is a mechanical device used to connect and safely release a lifeboat from the davit system during launch. It connects the lifeboat to the davit and allows for safe and controlled release during an emergency launch. These hooks are designed to withstand high loads. They are built with release mechanisms that allow the boat to be detached either manually or automatically once it reaches the water.

By ensuring a reliable connection and a dependable release when needed, lifeboat hooks play an important role in evacuation procedures. They help minimize the risk of malfunction or delay during emergencies, making them an essential part of any compliant and well-maintained lifesaving setup on board.

How do the T-ISS Life Boat Release Hooks work?

The T-ISS PX-WHK40 and PX-WHK65 are heavy-duty release hooks designed to safely launch large lifeboats. They feature safe working loads (SWL) of 40 kN and 65 kN, which is roughly equivalent to 3,200 kg and 4,100 kg. Each set includes two hooks, three soft shafts, release handles, and a static water pressure release, all designed to function together for a smooth and safe deployment process.

These hooks use a special release mechanism that ensures the lifeboat detaches at the right moment—either when it enters the water or when manually triggered. Constructed from high-grade materials like Stainless Steel 316 or Duplex, the PX-WHK series provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability. With a 5-year service life, they are built to deliver long-lasting reliability in even the harshest marine conditions.
