What is a Pneumatic ladder locker?
The T-ISS Pneumatic Ladder Locker is a maritime safety device designed to securely fasten the bottom of a ladder or gangway to the side of a ship. It uses air pressure (pneumatics) to stabilize the ladder, preventing it from shifting, sliding, or detaching during use. This significantly enhances safety for crew and visitors boarding or leaving the vessel. Our Pneumatic Ladder Locker is widely used in the maritime industry and meets strict safety standards to reduce the risk of accidents during transfer operations.
Â
How does a Pneumatic ladder locker work?
The system of the Pneumatic Ladder Locker operates using compressed air supplied by a deck-mounted compressor (minimum 1 HP). When activated, the ladder locker uses this air pressure to create a vacuum or suction effect, firmly attaching itself to the ship’s steel hull. This vacuum mechanism acts as a powerful anchor point that holds the ladder or gangway securely in place, even in rough sea conditions.
Despite its strength (with a lift capacity of 300 kg and a pull rate of 850 kg) the device is easy to handle and designed for quick, efficient operation. An included release mechanism allows the unit to be safely detached without excessive force when no longer needed.
