What are Stairnose Markers?
Stairnose Markers are photoluminescent safety markers designed for stairs, to increase visibility and reduce the risk of tripping or falling, especially in low-light or emergency situations. They are typically applied to the leading edge (nosing) of stair steps—the part that extends slightly beyond the riser—to help clearly define each step.
These markers are commonly used on ships, offshore platforms, and other maritime environments as part of a Low Location Lighting (LLL) system. In emergency scenarios, such as during a power outage or smoke-filled escape route, photoluminescent markers glow in the dark, guiding passengers and crew safely down stairways.
Our photoluminescent stair step strips include an anti-slip coating to provide added grip and safety. The system can also include side edge markers and round floor or wall dots, offering full stairway visibility in compliance with marine safety standards.
Approvals & Certificates
Stairnose Markers are officially DNV Approved, ensuring they meet recognized maritime safety regulations for use in escape route marking and Low Location Lighting systems.
