What is Spray Stop Tape?
Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape by T-ISS is a tape designed to prevent dangerous spray-outs or splashes from tubing systems. It is a high-performance tape specifically designed for use on ships and offshore platforms. Spray Stop tape is engineered for strength, durability, and resistance to extreme temperatures and pressures. It is specifically developed to contain leaks of hazardous liquids, helping to prevent fires, explosions, and other safety risks at sea.
This tape complies with IMO A653(16) and is an essential safety solution for marine environments where flammable oils and other pressurized fluids are transported through piping systems. Thanks to its advanced construction and reliable performance, Spray Stop is trusted by safety specialists worldwide.
Why is Spray Stop Tape so important to prevent accidents?
Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape prevents accidents by containing dangerous spray-outs from tubing systems. Unlike regular leaks, which often drip and are easy to spot, spray-outs can be nearly invisible. The liquid may escape as a fine, high-pressure mist that goes unnoticed—until it comes into contact with a hot surface or ignition source.
This is especially dangerous when dealing with flammable or hazardous substances, such as fuel or hydraulic oil. In such cases, an undetected spray-out can quickly lead to serious fires or even explosions on board ships or offshore platforms.
By wrapping vulnerable piping systems with Spray Stop tape at connection points, you create a protective barrier that contains leaks and spray-outs before they become dangerous. The tape can withstand continuous temperatures of up to +160 °C (and short-term exposure up to +200 °C), with a maximum pressure rating of 15 bar. This makes it ideal for high-demand environments both inside and outside engine rooms.
Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape is also available in Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape 50+, which can hold pressure up to 50 bar.
Where do you use Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape?
Spray Stop Anti-Splashing Tape is widely used in the marine and offshore industry to wrap and seal pipes that carry flammable or hazardous liquids. It is particularly suitable for:
- Fuel oil (FO) systems
- Lubricating oil (LO) systems
- Hydraulic lines
- Other high-pressure fluid systems
