What is an EV FireGun?

The EV FireGun by Fire Isolator is a specialized firefighting tool designed to penetrate the battery housing of an electric vehicle and flood it with water. With a flow rate of 40 liters per minute at two bar, it delivers water directly into the battery compartment, cooling the cells from the inside and helping to control thermal runaway, which is often the cause of EV fires.

Traditional firefighting methods usually involve external cooling with large amounts of water, but the FireGun offers a more targeted and efficient approach. By cooling the battery pack internally, it significantly reduces the risk of fire spread and reignition. Built from durable, high-quality materials, the FI-FIREGUN is reliable and suitable for demanding emergency scenarios.

How do you use the EV Fire Gun by Fire Isolator?

After securing the scene and confirming it is safe to approach the vehicle, the FireGun is used to pierce the battery compartment. Once inserted, it injects water directly into the battery housing, allowing the internal components to be rapidly cooled and reducing the intensity of the fire. This method is intended for trained professionals and is most effective when combined with other tools from the Fire Isolator Concept.

The FI-FIREGUN has been successfully tested in live fire scenarios and is an essential part of the Fire Isolator Concept—a comprehensive, multi-step approach to EV fire control. This concept includes:

  • The Fire Blanket to isolate and contain flames
  • Aerosol Units to suppress the fire and reduce temperatures
  • Watermist Applicators to cool surfaces and control toxic fumes
  • A Thermal Imaging Camera to monitor internal temperatures
  • And the EV FireGun, which targets the fire at its source inside the battery pack

Together, these tools offer a proven solution for the safe and effective management of electric vehicle fires.
