What are Aerosol Units?
Aerosol units are lightweight handheld fire suppression devices that use advanced aerosol technology to quickly and effectively control fires. The FI-AUCA1 Aerosol Unit by Fire Isolator is designed for Class A, B, and C fires, and is particularly useful in enclosed or hard-to-reach spaces. Once activated, the unit releases tiny solid particles suspended in gas, which interrupt the chemical chain reaction of combustion and suppress the flames.
Unlike traditional suppression methods, the FI-AUCA1 does not deplete oxygen, making it safe for use in confined areas. Its environmentally friendly design, compact size, and rapid deployment capability make it a versatile tool for first responders and fire safety professionals.
The Aerosol Unit can also be bought as a set.
Why are Aerosol Units important in fighting EV fires?
Speed and precision are critical when dealing with fast-spreading fires—especially in tight or high-risk environments. The FI-AUCA1 Aerosol Unit offers an immediate response, suppressing flames without the use of water or foam, which helps prevent damage to sensitive equipment or surroundings. Once thrown into the fire zone, the unit disperses a fine aerosol mist that rapidly reduces heat and visibility, helping to contain or extinguish the fire depending on the volume of the space.
With a coverage capacity of up to 45mÂł, the Aerosol unit is ideal for use in vehicles, technical rooms, server spaces, and battery compartments. It also leaves minimal residue, reducing cleanup time after deployment. Its 15-year serviceable lifetime ensures long-term readiness and reliability in emergency situations.
The FI-AUCA1 Aerosol Unit is manufactured in the Netherlands and meets the highest international fire safety and environmental standards, including UL 2775, EN15276-1, ISO 15779, NFPA 2010, and EPA SNAP. With zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0) and zero global warming potential (GWP = 0), it’s also a responsible and sustainable fire suppression solution.

How do you use the FI-AUCA1 Aerosol Unit?
The Aerosol Unit is designed for quick and simple deployment. To activate, remove the starter cord and throw the unit directly into the fire. The device automatically disperses its aerosol mist, requiring no further input from the user.
To ensure proper use, Fire Isolator offers training sessions and provides an animated instructional video demonstrating how to deploy the Aerosol Unit effectively. For enhanced protection, it can be used alongside other Fire Isolator tools such as the Fire Blanket and the Watermist lance, forming a complete and layered fire suppression strategy.
