What Are Escape Route Signs?
Escape Route Signs provide clear and easily understandable information to guide individuals to safety. These Safety Signs are part of a comprehensive Safety Sign System, which includes clearly placed signage and directional markings to indicate exits or Assembly Stations. In most Safety Sign Systems, Escape Route signs are the most prominent and visible.
Primary and Secondary Escape Route Signs
In maritime and offshore environments, a compliant Safety Sign System includes both Primary and Secondary Escape Route Signs. Primary Escape Route Signs lead the way along the main evacuation paths and direct personnel toward designated Assembly Stations. These signs often include assembly point symbols, making it easy to identify where to gather during emergencies.
When the Primary route is obstructed or inaccessible, Secondary Escape Route Signs come into play. These signs are marked with the familiar ‘running man’ icon and indicate alternative paths that eventually reconnect with the primary route. This dual-route system ensures that, even if the main evacuation path is blocked, a safe exit is still clearly marked.
