What is Corrosion Stop Zinc Tape?
Corrosion Stop Zinc Tape by T-ISS protects metal parts from galvanic corrosion in harsh maritime environments. It works by forming a sacrificial zinc layer that corrodes instead of the underlying metal—similar to how anodes protect a ship’s hull. This makes it especially useful in moist, salty, or marine settings where dissimilar metals come into contact.
This tape is made of high-purity zinc and features a strong acrylic adhesive for reliable bonding to steel surfaces. Its durable, multi-layer construction resists water, gas, and UV exposure, and performs effectively at temperatures up to 115 °C.
Where to use Corrosion Stop Zinc Tape?
Corrosion Stop Zinc Tape is ideal for use in environments where metal is exposed to moisture, salt, or varying temperatures. Common applications include:
- Bridge supports
- Pipelines and valves
- Offshore platforms
- Marine infrastructure
- Steel joints and exposed metal surfaces
Because it is easy to apply and doesn’t require welding or complex preparation, Corrosio Stop Zinc Tape is a practical solution for both maintenance and new construction projects. It effectively extends the service life of metal parts by preventing early-stage corrosion.
Materials and Technical Information
Cor Stop Zinc Tape is constructed from a 39% high-purity zinc layer combined with a strong acrylate adhesive. The tape has a total thickness of 0.15 mm (0.1 mm zinc and 0.05 mm adhesive) and adheres firmly to steel with a strength of >70 N per 100 mm. It is resistant to temperatures up to 115 °C and has a shelf life of 12 months when stored correctly.
The zinc layer is non-permeable to water, gas, and other substances, and it does not degrade under UV exposure. This ensures long-term performance without internal corrosion, even in harsh maritime conditions.
