What is Hatch Cover Tape?

Hatch Cover Tape is a sealing tape designed to secure and waterproof hatch covers on cargo vessels. Its primary purpose is to prevent water ingress into the cargo hold during harsh weather or rough seas. This helps protect moisture-sensitive cargo and supports the ship’s overall watertight integrity.

This Blueliner Tape is made of a self-adhesive SBS bitumen rubber compound, coated with a durable blue modified PE top layer. This top layer ensures excellent weather resistance. The blue color makes our Hatch Cover Tape easy to identify among other maritime Safety Tapes. The tape offers strong adhesion, flexibility, and resistance to extreme weather conditions, making it ideal for use in demanding marine environments.

How to use

Using our Cover Tape is straightforward, but requires proper application to ensure an effective seal:

1. Surface preparation: Clean the surface thoroughly to remove dirt, rust, oil, and moisture. A clean surface is essential for optimal adhesion.
2. Temperature considerations: Apply the tape when the surface temperature is between 5 °C – 40 °C. Once applied, it can withstand -15 °C to 70 °C.
3. Application: Unroll the 20m tape and press firmly along the edges of the Hatch Covers where needed. Make sure there are no air bubbles or gaps.
4. Press to seal: Use a roller or apply hand pressure to ensure full contact between the tape and the surface. This creates a watertight, weather-resistant seal.
5. Inspection: Check the seal regularly, especially before voyages through rough weather, to ensure continued protection.

By following these steps, T-ISS Hatch Cover Blueliner Tape will help safeguard your cargo and maintain watertight integrity at sea.
