What is Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape?
Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape is a high-temperature insulation tape specifically designed to insulate hot piping systems on ships. Thanks to its inwoven stainless steel wire and fiberglass filament, the tape performs reliably at temperatures up to 1000 °C. This is critical for maintaining safe and efficient operation in engine rooms or other heat-exposed areas. However, the tape can also be applied to cold or damp surfaces, making it highly suitable for real-world maritime conditions.
In addition, the tape’s biosoluble fiber composition is safer for human health and more environmentally friendly than traditional ceramic fiber alternatives.
How to use Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape
To achieve the best results, follow these steps when applying Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape:
1. Prepare the surface
Clean the surface where the tape will be applied. Remove any loose dirt, oil, or other contaminants. While the tape allows for cold and wet surface application, clean surfaces ensure optimal adhesion and performance.
2. Apply the tape
Wrap the tape tightly around the pipe or hot surface, ensuring slight overlap with each wrap. This overlap improves insulation and prevents heat from escaping.
3. Secure if needed
In areas subject to vibration or movement, secure the tape using stainless steel ties or clamps to keep it firmly in place.
4. Inspect periodically
During regular maintenance checks, inspect the tape to confirm it remains intact and has not shifted or deteriorated. This helps maintain consistent insulation and safety.
Where to use Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape
Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape is intended for high-temperature insulation in marine environments. It is especially suitable for use on hot piping systems found in engine rooms, boiler areas, exhaust systems, and other heat-exposed zones on board ships. Because of its flexibility and resistance to harsh conditions, it is also applicable in ship repair or retrofit projects where traditional insulation methods are not practical.
However, our Heat Stop Tape is not limited to the maritime sector; it can also be used in other industrial settings where safe, effective, and environmentally friendly thermal insulation is required.
Standards & Approvals
Biosoluble Heat Stop Tape meets several key international safety and quality standards:
- SOLAS Regulation II/2/12.2.10 – ensuring compliance with fire insulation requirements on board ships
- MSC 61 (67) – confirming approval by the Maritime Safety Committee
- GTS Verification of Compliance – independent verification of product performance
- EN 14306:2009 + A1:2013 – European standard for thermal insulation products used in industrial installations
