The LineShooter PLS 300
The LineShooter PLS 300 is a Pneumatic Line Thrower designed to establish a physical connection between two points over water or difficult terrain. Unlike traditional pyrotechnic line throwers that rely on solid fuel rockets, the T-ISS PLS 300 utilizes compressed air as its propellant. Developed in close cooperation with several specialists, T-ISS achieved an advanced, state-of-the-art heavy-duty apparatus.
Our LineShooter PLS 300 offers significant benefits. It is fully reusable; after a launch, the projectile can be recovered, the line repacked, and the cylinder refilled using a standard shipboard diving compressor. This allows crews to conduct frequent training exercises at virtually no cost, ensuring they are proficient when an actual emergency occurs. Furthermore, without explosive components, the device has no βshelf lifeβ or hazardous waste disposal requirements, making it both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
How does the LineShooter PLS 300 work?
The LineShooter PLS 300 uses compressed air to launch a projectile that carries a lightweight pilot line to a target location. Once the pilot line has reached its destination, it can be used to pull heavier ropes, mooring lines, towing lines, or rescue equipment into position.
Its pneumatic design eliminates the risks associated with pyrotechnic launchers, making it particularly suitable for use in hazardous environments where fire or explosion hazards must be avoided.
Key Applications
- Ship-to-Ship Transfer β Establishes the initial connection for fuel hoses, personnel transfers, or towing lines between vessels.
- Ship-to-Shore Mooring β Projects a pilot line to a dock or pier during challenging berthing operations, even in strong winds or currents.
- Man Overboard (MOB) Situations β Rapidly deploys a floating line or lifebuoy to a person in the water from a safe distance.
- Hazardous Environments β Ideal for oil tankers, chemical carriers, offshore installations, and gas terminals where pyrotechnic equipment is prohibited.
- SOLAS Compliance β Designed to support maritime rescue operations and help vessels meet SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements.
