What is the Watermist Lance?
The FI-WMLANCE Watermist Lance is a firefighting tool designed to work with a fire blanket during electric vehicle (EV) fires. As part of Fire Isolator’s Watermist Applicator range, it uses fine water mist technology to enhance fire suppression and safety. After the blanket is deployed, the lance sprays a fine mist over it, making it wet and more airtight. This improves the blanket’s ability to contain flames and toxic vapors. The mist also cools the area, reduces heat, and displaces oxygen.
An important part of fighting EV fires
EV fires—especially those involving lithium-ion batteries—can produce extreme heat and hazardous gases. To help contain these fires, a fire blanket is first deployed over the vehicle. The Watermist Lance is then used to spray a fine mist over the blanket, making it more airtight and improving cooling. This step is an essential part of the Fire Isolator concept. By enhancing the blanket’s sealing and reducing heat, the lance helps prevent reignition and creates a safer environment for fire crews.
