What is a Rolldown Cassette?

The T-ISS Rolalux VH01 Rolldown Cassette is designed to display mandatory onboard documentation such as the General Arrangement Plan, Fire Safety Plan, and Escape Plan. According to SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 15.2.4, these plans must be permanently available on the ship’s bridge. They provide vital information about the ship’s layout, fire control zones, evacuation routes, and alarm systems, supporting effective decision-making in emergencies and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations.

This system allows ships to display up to three separate plans in a single, space-saving unit. The design ensures that all plans are clearly visible and easily accessible to crew members and officers at any time.

How Does the Rolldown Cassette Work?

The VH01 Rolldown Cassette is mounted on the bridge—either on a wall or ceiling—and functions as a secure, retractable storage system for ship layout plans. Thanks to its user-friendly mechanism, crew can quickly roll down the required plan when needed, and easily remove and replace any of the displayed plans to keep documentation up to date, as required by SOLAS. This ensures that safety and evacuation plans are always current and accessible.

Design and Materials

The Rolldown Cassette is available in two versions: Rolalux VH01 for Safety Plans and Rolalux VH01 including 1–3 Safety Plans. Both models are made from anodized aluminum, ensuring durability, corrosion resistance, and a clean, modern appearance that fits perfectly in any bridge environment. Each unit measures 1000 x 125 x 130 mm and weighs approximately 5 kg, offering a compact yet highly functional design.

Custom sizes are available upon request to meet specific vessel requirements.

Approvals and Standards

The T-ISS Rolldown Cassette meets the requirements of SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 15.2.4, which mandates the onboard availability of fire control and evacuation plans. It supports safe vessel operation by ensuring quick access to key emergency information, helping crew stay informed and prepared in line with international maritime safety standards.
